Montblanc Great Characters Homage To The Great Gatsby Special Edition Fountain Pen

Montblanc's Great Characters collection continues with this tribute to The Great Gatsby, F Scott Fitzgerald's classic American novel set in the Jazz Age, a period of affluence and self-indulgence.

The barrel is a deep blue, finished using a special technique that gives the impression of the Art Deco skyline of New York. The Montblanc emblem at the top of the cap stores light during the day and will glow in the dark, a bit like the house lights of Gatsby's lost love, Daisy Buchanan. The pocket clip is platinum-plated and shaped like a money clip, symbolic of the power of wealth. The initials JG, for Jay Gatsby, also feature in a gold-plated rhomboidal monogram, and the barrel end imitates the screw cap of a hip flask, an item symbolic of the Roaring Twenties, and is encircled by the colours of the American flag.

It's fitted with a solid gold, rhodium-plated nib engraved with an image of Gatsby's sumptuous car, described by Fitzgerald as '...terraced with a labyrinth of wind-shields that mirrored a dozen suns.'
