Platinum Pro-Use Pencil 231 0.5mm #1 Black
The Platinum Pro-Use series is designed as the name suggests for professional drafting purposes. The 231 model is a drafting pencil intended for every day use.
Firstly, it employs the Safety Slide Mechanism, which is also used in the Press Man and OLEeNU pencils, and means the lead is supported much nearer the tip than most mechanical pencils. This means the lead is less likely to break if the pencil is knocked or dropped, and it can be used right down to the last millimeter.
Secondly, it employs a 'pipe slide mechanism' which allows stowing the lead pipe inside when not in use. It's a common feature in modern drawing pencils and is intended as a safety feature to prevent damage to the pipe from external shocks.
The barrel is constructed from ABS resin with a chrome pocket clip. Grip section is rubberised to allow easy, comfortable gripping. There is a lead grade indicator running from 2B to 4H incorporated into the push button. Available in a range of lead sizes.
